Modeling Fluid-Structure Interaction Using COMSOL Multiphysics®
by vairamuthuraja… on 22nd Jun 2026 3:12 pm
Join us for an interactive web workshop to learn how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software can be used to model fluid–structure interaction (FSI). During this session, we will demonstrate how to set up, solve, and interpret FSI problems for accurate and reliable predictions.
Fluid–structure interaction (FSI) captures the two-way coupling between fluid flow and structural deformation, making it critical for the design of many real-world engineering systems. In this web workshop, you will learn how the capabilities of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software's unified modeling environment can be used for multiphysics analysis that integrates CFD and structural mechanics phenomena. We will demonstrate how to set up, solve, and interpret FSI problems efficiently for accurate and reliable predictions.
Key topics will include FSI modeling of:
- One-way and two-way couplings for steady-state and time-dependent simulation
- Acoustic–structure interaction and poroelasticity
- Bearings with thin layers of gas or fluid
- Multiphysics simulation involving other phenomena, such as heat transfer and two-phase flow
You are welcome to ask questions via the chat feature at any point during the workshop or save them for the Q&A session at the end.
After the event, you can request a free two-week trial of COMSOL Multiphysics® to evaluate the software at your own pace.
