Problem Statements for Internships

  1. Develop a vision based system to measure the dimensions of an object. The vision system can be mounted on a suitable linear motion or rotary motion system to enable the tracing of the boundaries of the object. The resolution of the camera can be adjusted to capture very precise information. Human interaction can also be added to guide the measurement.
  2. Develop a single axis linear or rotary servo motion system that is compliant to an external load and can be repositioned by this external force.
  3. Develop a software system that can track the energy consumption of machines in a shopfloor. Typically, the machine will have many sub-units consuming energy during its operation. The system should have capability to segregate the energy consumed by these sub-units. Build a dashboard to visualize the raw and processed data.
  4. Develop a single axis linear or rotary servo motion system that can balance an unbalanced load and keep it in stable predefined condition by active dynamic control.
  5. Develop a software system that can collect and process data from a CNC machine and its PLC. The collected data should be converted to useful data that represent the status of the machine and be visualized in a dashboard.
  6. Develop a system to lift a load through pneumatic pressure and keep it stable in all 6 degrees of freedom.
  7. Develop a system using mechanism and actuators to climb uneven surfaces and at the same time maintain its stability through active control.
